by S.M. McCoy
Genre: YA Fantasy Paranormal
Release Date: September 21st 2018

Summary:

While investigating her mother’s disappearance Crystal’s bloodline leads a supernatural council to hunt her down for her latent magic. Love, lies, and long buried secrets change her life forever.

Sixteen-year-old Crystal Dylan has been marked by the waning crescent due to her latent diviner heritage. The magic from her is a beacon to any nearby supernatural beings, especially energy serpents, vampires sent by the Divine Council to capture her. She never believed in the strange, the superstitious, or magical until she started looking for her long-thought-dead mother. Too many attacks on her aura have left her drained, dying, and vulnerable leaving Victor no choice but to try anything to help her, even the serpent’s kiss.

The Divine Council was looking for the lost heir, and Damien, a drawn class serpent, was their retrieval system with an agenda of his own. Crystal’s memories are being manipulated, and she struggles to find the truth about who she loves, what happened to her mother, who she is, and how to stay alive long enough to figure it all out.

The Ultimate Paranormal Vibe Playlist

I’m probably the weirdest person to ask for a playlist, since the songs that get me in the mood are all over the place, from techno, rock, K-pop, punk, alternative, to R&B. Not sure they all flow together like a DJ would give you, but they flow in terms of story feelings. Also, a big fan of the Queen of the Damned sound track, a few of those songs are added below, but warning on language content if you don’t get the “clean” version.

Start it off with some Skrillex “Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites” to get your head in the game, get you pumped and feeling like a badass.

“Not Meant for Me” by Wayne Static. Sometimes you’re trapped in a world, lonely and waiting. Feeling the struggle. (Language warning, get clean version for young audiences)

“Hero” by MONSTA X.  When you meet the handsome hunk and they want to be the one to save you.

“Slow Down Love” by Louis The Child. Sometimes it’s too bright out there and you want to slow it down.

“Ain’t My Fault” by Zara Larsson. When you give in to let him whisk you away, but it’s totally his fault, not yours that you give into the feelings.

“System” by Chester Bennington. Feeling the sickness inside. (Language warning, get clean version for young audiences)

“Limitless” by Adventure Club. That moment when you feel your power even in the face of utter defeat.

“Medieval Warfare” by Grimes. Regrouping and letting yourself get slowly pumped again.

“Slept So Long” by Jay Gordon. When you get angry that the world messed up your life, but using that hate to get dark and full of fight. (Language warning, get clean version for young audiences)

“Bad Liar” by Selena Gomez. Trying not to think about the love interest, but you’re lying to yourself.

“Gangsta” by Kehlani. You’ll both take on the world together, even if it seems insane.

I’d say those are some good starter points to feeling the angst and love of paranormal romances. But as I said before I have an odd mix of song tastes.
